Welcome to the August 21 2014 BNZ Weekly Overview, attached.

The NZD has eased against a stronger USD this week which has been assisted by a lift in expectations of tighter US monetary policy next year. Mild downward pressure on the NZD has also come from further data showing some slowing in the housing market.  But net migration inflows are almost at record levels and in an environmentof house shortages in Auckland and Christchurch that means ongoing price support.
